Manual Therapy Techniques of the Shoulder
Manual Therapy Techniques of the Shoulder is a hands-on continuing education course designed for beginner to intermediate occupational therapy clinicians seeking to improve their evaluation and manual therapy skills for individuals with shoulder dysfunction.
This clinically focused course takes a comprehensive approach to the shoulder complex by examining the relationship between the cervical spine, thoracic spine, sternoclavicular (SC) joint, acromioclavicular (AC) joint, and glenohumeral joint. Participants will develop practical skills in joint evaluation, clinical reasoning, and the selection and application of manual therapy techniques to address pain, joint mobility restrictions, and impaired upper extremity function.
Through hands-on lab instruction, participants will learn MELT techniques, cervical evaluation and mobilization, AC and SC joint evaluation and mobilization, thoracic evaluation and mobilization, and glenohumeral joint evaluation and mobilization. The course will also introduce cupping, Kinesiotaping, and instrument-assisted manual therapy techniques, with an emphasis on safe application and integration into occupational therapy practice.
Participants will leave the course with practical, clinically applicable techniques that can be immediately incorporated into the evaluation and treatment of clients with shoulder and upper-quarter dysfunction.
